Episode Synopsis[]

A gang of cyborg thieves stage a high-speed heist of a heavily armored convoy.

Plot[]

Deep in the desert on a clear, starry night, the Metalheads, a heist crew of four cyborgs — Hawk, the leader, Kali, the Femme Fatale, Sui, the muscle, and Rookie, the newbie — are approaching their target in their buggies. Their mission, as detailed by Bob, the crew's tactical statistical analyst, is to rob a convoy for a heavily guarded microchip as it is in motion to a tunnel. With the tunnel serving as their blindspot, they have until it reaches the other side to make the grab before their rendezvous window closes. Not wasting any time, they move their buggies into position on the highway and Rookie and Sui start planting the explosives on the back car where the guards are. However, Sui drops one of his when he pulls a side-wheeler to avoid running over a desert rat and alerts the guards. They open fire and Kali opens cover fire as Sui jumps to the roof to take out the guards on top. As the crew approaches the tunnel, Hawk blows the mines and moves in to deal with the turrets that bombard Sui on the next car. Finally inside the tunnel, Rookie joins Sui and Hawk on the roof of the second car, but as Hawk readies, he is blindsided and destroyed by a massive defense bot Bob fails to warn them about. Sui fights it off while Rookie climbs below deck, and keeps it distracted long enough for a billboard to knock it off the convoy. However, instead of so much as slowing it down, it shifts to vehicle mode and gives chase and Kali is crushed alive when it catches up. With none of Sui's weapons doing any damage either, Bob deduces the only way to stop it is to get to the truck pulling the cargo cars where the defense bot's CPU chamber is located, and destroy it. Rookie blows the final door open and has the CPU in his sights, but when the Bot senses its in danger, it speeds up and charges headfirst for him. Rookie is beset with the mechanical behemoth and the situation appears grim before Sui comes to the rescue, but their rendezvous window is shrinking as the convoy approaches the end of the tunnel. Rookie tries to make a B-Line for the CPU, but the defense bot knocks him away and he is trapped under the cargo boxes. Rookie watches in horror as the defense bot crushes Sui's head in the palm of its hand, and things appear totally hopeless as the monster comes for him next. However, Sui reveals himself to be perfectly fine because the bot only decapitated him thinking that's where his brain was (which it wasn't). So, Sui sacrifices himself to destroy the defense bot's CPU and the convoy by dripping flammable chemicals from his neck cavity all over the chamber and igniting it with the cigarette lighter built into his thumb. Rookie survives the explosion and with only feet away from the end of the tunnel, the defense bot shuts down and the targeted microchip emerges from the top of its head. Bob weaves his command vehicle through the rubble to pick up Rookie, but the loss of his friends leaves him with little reason to celebrate. However, Hawk, Kali, and Sui emerge in hologram form to congratulate him for a job well done and reveals that they were never in any danger since Bob always makes a full memory backup of their brains before each mission. And so, all's well that ends well as Rookie climbs aboard Bob's command vehicle and they head for home.
