Season 3 also known as Volume 3, of Netflix's American adult animated anthology streaming television series of Love, Death & Robots (stylized as LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS, and represented in emoji form as ❤️☠️🤖). It was released on May 20, 2022.[1]

Synopsis[]

Emmy-winning animated anthology Love, Death + Robots returns with a third volume executive produced by Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) and David Fincher (MINDHUNTER, Mank). Terror, imagination and beauty combine in new episodes which stretch from uncovering an ancient evil to a comedic apocalypse, telling startling short stories of fantasy, horror and science-fiction with trademark wit and visual invention.

On April 19, 2021 it was announced that prior to the premiere of LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS's second volume, the anthology series had already been renewed for a third season. It will also consist of 8 episodes, but won't premiere till sometime in 2022.[1] On May 17, 2021, series creator Tim Miller and supervising director Jennifer Yuh Nelson announced the "Three Robots" sequel during a live Reddit AMA where multiple users asked whether Love, Death + Robots would revisit any stories from previous seasons in Volume 3. This was the only "Easter egg" for Volume 3 they were allowed to give out during the AMA.[3]

On April 18, 2022 the release date for Volume 3 was announced on social media. It premiered on May 20, 2022.

On May 9, 2022, a full trailer released, revealing there to be 9 episodes in its third volume.[4][5]

On May 15, 2022, the list of the studios that have been involved in Volume 3 were revealed.[2]


Trivia[]

  • On May 17, 2021, it was revealed that the series will have a continuation of at least two stories from Season 1.[6]
  • On May 9, 2022, it was revealed that Bad Travelling was David Fincher's first time ever directing an animation piece.[7][8]
  • On May 13, 2022, it was announced that a virtual screening would take place on Monday, May 16th at 7:00pm PT / 10:00pm ET, and it was exactly what they showed at the Alamo Drafthouse, which was the best of the series' first two seasons, as well as a few episodes from the upcoming third season. Which includes the David Fincher helmed Bad Travelling, which was written by Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. In addition to also getting to watch Alberto Mielgo’s Jibaro early from Volume 3.[9][10]
  • On May 18, 2022, the anthology series' first ever book sequel titled Three Robots: Exit Strategies was released early on YouTube.[11]
