Episode Synopsis[]
A community of farmers use their homemade mechs to defend their families from an alien invasion.
Plot[]
At what seems to be a typical rural American farm, Hank Graves and his wife are just finishing dinner, all the while discussing the scrap-pile scarecrow their neighbor Jake has given them, when a nearby computer terminal goes off, alerting them to a "breach" at the edge of their pasture land. Hank goes to investigate, climbing into the cockpit of a homemade mecha suit.
Hank pilots his mech to the farm's pasture, seeing an odd glowing portal opening in the middle of empty air... with the farm's cattle right in front of it. From the portal emerges a pack of strange, insectoid creatures call DeeBees begin to attack the herd. Hank is easily able to use his suit's weapons to deal with the DeeBees, though he notices they are acting unusually aggressive this night. Just as it seems the fight is over, Hank's wife tells him that multiple breaches are opening along the ridge at the far edge of their property. When Hank arrives at a vantage point, he sees that dozens of breaches are merging into one GIANT breach that will allow THOUSANDS of the DeeBees to get inside. He quickly has the word sent out to gather the other mech pilots in the valley to rally to his position to erect a defense and for the civilians to head to the Graves' farm and take shelter in the bunker beneath it. One neighbor, Jake, sacrifices himself to kill a large portion of the swarm. A giant DeeBee breaks through, but with a well aimed shot from a turret gun, one of the farmers' wives destroy it. Come dawn, the barriers are back to normal and the town has returned to a sense of safety. The camera zooms out to show that the whole planet is populated by DeeBees, and the farmers are the invading force, having set up domed colonies across the planet.

Trivia[]
- This episode is based on the eponymous story of Steven Lewis.
- It's unknown on how the farmers settle the planet: either they were transported from an unknown circumstance, or they try to colonize it (which theoretically, makes them invaders, which is why the DeeBees are protecting their home).
