Love, Death & Robots Wiki

A Thanapod is a creature in LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS, appearing as the main antagonist of the third season episode titled "Bad Travelling".

History[]

A Thanapod ambushed a ship, killing four of its crew, including the captain and helmsman, before retreating into the bowels of the ship. It had taken one of its victims, a man named Turk, to use a human puppet through which it speaks and communicates.

The ship's first mate named Torrin meets the Thanapod, and the two strike a deal. Torrin gives it meat, while the Thanapod does not kill him. It also agrees to vomit up the keys to the captain's gun box.

The Thanapod feasts on Jorvan.

Later, the Thanapod calls down Torrin, demanding to be taken to Phaiden Island, where it could feast on the countless civilians there.

The Thanapod feasts on already dead brothers Melis and Calis.

The Thanapod grew impatient, and called Torrin down again, stating that it is hungry. It revealed its offspring, which had been born/hatched on the ship.

The Thanapod and its offspring feast on the corpses of Suparin, Maril, Chantre, Paln, and Cert, as well as the still-living Deacon.

Later, the ship stops, and Torrin comes down to the Thanapod, stating they have arrived. He slices barrels containing oils, which spill out onto the floorboards. Torrin draws his revolver, and the Thanapod states that a bullet would not work due to the its protective shell. Torrin remarks that that was not the purpose of the gun, and ignites the oil. The Thanapod attempts to kill Torrin as it and its children burn, but was unsuccessful.

It died, its wish to consume the civilians of Phaiden Island and feed its children unfulfilled.
