Synopsis[]
Three robots walk into the post-apocalypse... and take a whirlwind tour of humankind's last attempts to save itself.
Plot[]
Still on their tour of post-apocalyptic human settlements, K-VRC, XBOT 4000, and 11-45-G visit a deserted survivalist camp in the countryside. According to the robots' research, the people there rejected government-sponsored healthcare, electing to create their own rural society while excessively stockpiling weapons and ammunition. Before long, however, animals were hunted to extinction and the humans resorted to raiding each others' encampments to survive.
On the other side of the income inequality gap, the robots travel to a seastead created by the powerful and wealthy that had been declared an independent nation-state. Similar to the survivalist camps, edible sea life was in short-supply due to human error. The technology moguls that created the seastead left behind skilled workers, opting to rely on technology for their needs. 11-45-G pretends to be a human and activates a holographic virtual assistant, Elena. After she insults the robots, is revealed that the robot uprising began at the seastead when humans treated robots poorly.
Next, the robots visit a bunker where humanity's leaders sought refuge after global economic collapse. When their hydroponics agricultural systems began failing, the world powers turned to cannibalism. The insanely wealthy attempted to escape the planet altogether, aiming for Mars while the rest of humanity died. At the launch station, the robots lament the masses' suffering under the callousness of the elite, but realize that one of the rockets successfully launched while reviewing surveillance footage.
Meanwhile, on Mars, a thriving society has sprung up, with numerous habitable domes on the Martian landscape. What appears to be a spacesuit-clad human watches the scenery, but it is revealed to be a mechatronic suit controlled by one of the intelligent cats from the end of the first "Three Robots" episode. "Who were you expecting?" it asks the audience, breaking the fourth wall. "Elon Musk?"
